How to Warm Up Your Personal Lube for Intimacy

Avoid dryness when you need it the least

For many women, lack of moisture during intimacy is normal. Roughly 17% of females between the ages 18 to 50 experience dryness during sex. Which is why K-Y® lubricants have always been an easy remedy. But, there are those times when you want your lubricant to turn up the heat, literally. If you’re particularly sensitive to cold, or if you’re using lubricants for the first time, you may want to warm it up to body temperature or purchase a warming lube. Follow these tips so you can ease seamlessly into intimacy with your partner. There are those times when you want your lubricant to turn up the heat

Try warming lubricants

A personal lubricant designed to warm up upon body contact, such as K-Y® Warming® Liquid or K-Y® Warming® Jelly, is a great way to introduce warm lubricant to your intimacy. To start: Test with a pea-sized amount on you and your partner’s intimate areas, and reapply as you need. Remember, always start with a small amount and adjust as necessary.

Use your body heat

If you prefer to use a non-warming lubricant, you may want to experiment with different warming methods. Squeeze a pea-sized drop of lubricant into your palm and close your hand; your body heat will warm the product into a more pleasurable temp before applying to your intimate areas.

Keep it on hand

You don’t need to sit and wait while your lubricant warms up. Apply a small amount of lubricant onto the back of your hand and let it sit for a few minutes while you engage in some foreplay with your partner – a jelly lubricant like K-Y® Jelly might be more suited for this method. After a few minutes, your lubricant should be warm enough to be integrated more seamlessly into your intimacy.

Fill a glass with tap water that feels very warm to the touch, and set the unopened bottle of lubricant in the glass. Let the product warm up in the glass for 10 to 15 minutes before you apply. Always check the temperature by applying one or two drops on your hand using it during intimacy.
