How to Choose the Right Condom for You and Your Partner

Selecting the right condom for you and your partner can really make a difference to your intimate moments. When used correctly, condoms are about 98% effective for unplanned pregnancies if used correctly and consistently.

There is far more to sex than just a physical act and it is a great way to build a stronger connection with your partner. Condoms have always been misconstrued and viewed as a barrier to physical closeness. That’s why here at K-Y, we’ve created the first condom designed with both of your needs in mind, and to bring you both closer together in the moment.

Choosing the Right Condom

Condoms are considered a great preventative measure due to their cost efficiency and accessibility. Introducing a condom to your intimate moments provides several benefits for both you and your partner. Our condoms are designed to offer you protection during sex, and are available in a variety of condom size offerings and styles to help you and your partner feel as comfortable as possible so that you can focus on what matters – each other. If you have any questions about which condom is right for you, be sure to consult your doctor.

Our K-Y® Extra Lubricated® condoms provide extra lubrication for greater comfort and smoothness so that you can focus on staying in the moment.

Despite the variety that K-Y condoms offer, they can become less effective if:

  • They are not used correctly and consistently every time
  • They have reached and/or exceeded their expiration date
  • They have been stored incorrectly (condoms should be stored in a cool area away from any direct sunlight and extreme temperatures)
  • The air wasn’t squeezed out of the tip correctly before penetration
  • The wrong lubricant, such as an oil-based lubricant, was used

Always be sure that the lube you are applying to the condom is suitable for the material used. Oil-based lubes can break down the delicate material, increasing the chances of rips forming. A water-based lube such as K-Y Ultra Gel is safe to use with a variety of different condoms, meaning you and your lover can be confident that your sexual routine is as safe as possible.
